A Career as a Registered Nurse

While most of the on-list occupation would require applicants to have years of related working experience, nursing programs is a great option to be qualified to work as a registered nurse in Australia.

A career in nursing is a stable and sustainable long-term career in Australia.

The average annual salary as a Registered Nurse is around $60-70K which increases with working experience in the industry.

Nurses in Australia are mainly categorised as:
  • 1. Assistant in Nursing

    Work as an assistant for enrolled nurse and registered nurses. Require applicants to have at least a Certificate III in Age Care / Certificate III in Individual Support.

  • 2. Enrolled Nurse

    Qualified to measure blood pressure, distribute medicines, injections etc. Can give intravenous injections under supervisions of registered nurses. Require applicants to complete a Diploma of Nursing.

  • 3. Registered Nurse

    Registered nurses are qualified to take care of patients without supervision. Responsible to supervise enrolled nurses. Required to have an English level of IELTS 7.0 in all bands, and at least a Bachelor degree in nursing.

How to be qualified as a Register Nurse?
  • Students already with a bachelor’s degree can pursue further study with a Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry). Graduates will be qualified to work as a registered nurse in 2 years upon completion of the program.

    Registration is required.

  • Graduates with a Diploma of Nursing and are registered as an Enrolled Nurse can apply to transition into a Bachelor of Nursing degree. Students may receive up to one year credit exemption (advanced standing) and therefore complete the degree in 2 years.

  • Students with an undergraduate degree in an unrelated field can also choose to study a Master of Nursing Studies (2 year program). No relevant background required (subject to requirements).

    The Master of Nursing is a great option for students without a background in a skilled occupation and may consider to migrate to Australia as a registered nurse.

    7.0 in all bands
