    What is a Temporary Graduate Visa?

    The Temporary Graduate Visa is designed for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications relevant to Australia's targeted occupation list. It allows visa holders to temporarily live, study, and work in Australia.

    Application Requirements:

    • Be under 50 years of age.
    • Held a student visa in the past 6 months.
    • Enrolled in a CRICOS registered course.
    • Completed two years of study with a minimum of 16 months or 92 weeks of actual course duration.
    • Submit the visa application within 6 months of completing the course.
    • IELTS score of 6 overall with no band less than 5 (equivalent scores are also accepted).
     
    Differences between GW and PSW streams:

    Graduate Work stream (GW):
    • Study in an occupation listed in the MLTSSL (some exemptions until June 30, 2023), such as chef, carpenter, automotive mechanic, etc.
    • Have already applied for a skills assessment before lodging the visa application.

    Post-Study Work stream (PSW):
    • No specific occupation requirement or skills assessment.
    • Hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree.
    • First student visa granted on or after November 2011.

    Visa Duration:
    • GW visa duration is 18 months.
    • PSW visa duration is 2-4 years.
    • For graduates in regional areas, there is an option to apply for further visa extension (only applicable to PSW category) if they continue to reside in a regional area.

    Essential documents include:
    • Valid passport.
    • Health insurance.
    • Language test results (within 3 years).
    • Birth certificate.
    • Academic transcripts and graduation certificate.
    • Australian police clearance.
    • Form 80.
