Features of the University

The University of Western Australia offers a wide range of facilities for students and staff, including a childcare centre, a library, a sports and fitness centre, a university club, the Berndt Museum of Anthropology, the Lawrence Wilson Gallery, the University Theatre, a multimedia centre, a healthcare centre and the University of Western Australia Press. The University of Western Australia Press, established in 1935, is the second oldest publishing house in Australia.

A distinctive feature of The University of Western Australia is its emphasis on research and research training. The University is one of Australia's leading research universities and the most important research organisation in Western Australia. The University receives A$115,000,000 per year in external research income and spends over A$166,000,000 per year on research projects.

UWA's Learning Enhancement Programme has won the Australian Krick Teaching Award. The University's Postgraduate Teaching and Learning Internship Programme also won one of the awards in the Postgraduate Education category.

Entry Requirements

 

- GCE Ordinary Level (OL) 6 or higher.

- A grade B certificate in the Cambridge Certificate of English Language (CEL) examination.

- Satisfy the University's IELTS or TOEFL requirements, which should be taken within 24 months of application.

- IELTS score of 6.5 (not less than 6.0 in any one category).

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (written form) 550 points.

- TOEFL (computer-based) 213 points.

- For students applying for specific disciplines, e.g. the Faculty of Law requires a TOEFL score of not less than 580 and a TWE score of not less than 5; or an IELTS score of not less than 7.0 and an individual score of not less than 7.0.
