The Australian National University

The Australian National University (ANU), founded in 1946, is a research-intensive national university located in Canberra, the Australian Capital Territory. It is also a member of the International Association of Research Universities (IARU), the Go8, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). ANU is the only national public university in Australia (all other Australian public universities are state-run) and was established by legislation of the Australian Parliament. ANU's campus covers an area of about 150 hectares and is located in Canberra, the capital city of Australia. There are currently seven faculties at ANU, which are primarily concerned with academic research in various fields, but also offer undergraduate and taught master's programs. 88% of ANU's academic staff have PhDs, the highest percentage in Australia, and more than one-third of the Australian Federal Academics teach or engage in scientific research here. It is also worth mentioning that the university's library is very rich in resources, and the collection of books is so large that it can not be placed in the same area, therefore, there are four libraries and many small branch libraries in the ANU University.
