Founded in 1853, the University of Melbourne is Australia's second oldest university and is now home to 30,000 students in 11 faculties. The University has over 1,500 overseas students from more than 40 countries. The University of Melbourne is located in the heart of Melbourne, Australia's cultural centre. Melbourne is the capital of Victoria and Australia's second largest city with a population of 4 million. Melbourne is also one of Australia's major ports of entry and exit, with many major local and international companies based here. The University's main campus is located in Pikeville, a 22.5-hectare suburb of the famous Carlton, just 15 minutes' walk from the city centre.

-The University of Melbourne's library is one of the oldest and largest in Australia, with a collection of more than 3 million volumes in more than 20 languages. It includes books, newspapers and magazines, journals, parliamentary materials, audio-visual materials, microforms, CD-ROM databases and more.

-The University of Melbourne has also established a Graduate Register, which now contains information on 110,000 graduates, making it the world's largest graduate network.

-The Career and Employment Advice Centre provides a wide range of employment services for students.

-The University Athletic Centre provides students with 10 squash courts, 4 weightlifting gyms, and 2 large gymnasiums for a variety of ball sports. Outdoor tennis, rugby, hockey, track, cricket and basketball courts are also available. There are also rowing and skiing venues. There are 45 sports clubs. The Students' Union has more than 100 clubs and social organisations, including a dedicated Chinese Students' Society.

Entry Requirements

-IELTS 6.5 Postgraduate:

-IELTS 6.5 IELTS 7.0 is required for the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Education;

-TOEFL 577 or above, writing 4.5 or above; IELTS 6.5 or above. Some subjects require slightly less. Part-time work is allowed, not exceeding 20 hours per week during the semester, and there is no restriction on holidays. Transferable credits.
